Once again, Bovespa showed positive performance in 2007, with an appreciation of 43.6% year-on-year, resulting from economic growth, political stability, an improvement in foreign investors' opinions about Brazil, and the faith of the market in the economic policy of Brazil's government. At the end of 2007, Brasil Telecom Participações S.A.'s market value, calculated at the weighted average of the prices of common and preferred shares, totaled R$12,215 million, an appreciation of 38.7% year-on-year.
